Cherry Valley gymnasium dedication rescheduled

Rockford Register Star - 1/29/2019

Jan. 28--CHERRY VALLEY -- A ceremony to dedicate the Cherry Valley Elementary School gym to honor Leonard B. Keller, a former Cherry Valley resident and Medal of Honor recipient, has been rescheduled because of the weather.

Keller attended Cherry Valley School and Guilford High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

A ceremony scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled to 4 p.m.Feb. 4.

The school opened in the fall of 2018.

Leonard B. Keller's namesake was suggested for the new school more than a year ago. The name Cherry Valley Elementary School was ultimately selected with a recommendation to honor Keller in another way at the new building.
